  • Let It Bloom

-Osho's Quote on Love and Appreciation

In a world obsessed with possession, there is a beautiful quote by spiritual leader Osho that offers a refreshing perspective on love: “If you love a flower, don’t pick it up.

Because if you pick it up it dies and it ceases to be what you love. So if you love a flower, let it be. Love is not about possession. Love is about appreciation.”

This simple quote holds an immense wisdom about the true nature of love. It compels us to move beyond the desire to own and control, urging us to embrace appreciation instead.

Osho paints a vivid picture. We are captivated by a flower’s beauty – its vibrant colours, delicate petals, and sweet fragrance. However, the moment we pick it, that beauty starts to fade. The flower, separated from its source of life, withers and dies. This parallels how possessive love can suffocate what it seeks to cherish. When we try to hold onto someone or something too tightly, we risk destroying the very essence of what we love.

This quote reminds us that true love isn’t about ownership. It’s about finding joy in the existence of the beloved – a person, a flower, a fleeting moment. It’s about appreciating their unique qualities and allowing them to flourish in their natural state.

This philosophy extends far beyond the physical realm of flowers. We can apply it to our relationships, our careers, and even our hobbies. When we approach them with an open heart, seeking to appreciate what they offer rather than controlling them for our own desires, a deeper sense of fulfillment emerges.

Osho’s quote isn’t a call for complete detachment. It’s about striking a balance. We can admire a flower’s beauty without uprooting it. We can nurture a relationship while respecting each other’s independence.

By letting go of possessiveness, we open ourselves to a more profound experience of love.  We learn to cherish the present moment, appreciate the impermanence of things, and find joy in the simple act of loving. So the next time you encounter something beautiful, take a moment to appreciate it in its natural state.

Remember, letting it bloom may be the greatest expression of love you can offer. Happy reading.
